Something About Christine
I have earned a Masters Degree in Counseling from Western KY University, a Masters Degree in Health Care Management from Marymount University, and a paralegal certificate form Georgetown University. I am also an AAMET certified EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Practitioner. But, perhaps, my most valuable education came from being a naturally introspective person who has gone through all that life has thrown at me (and significant others) paying great attention to the lessons learned and by discovering solutions from searching within and outside myself. As a rule, the solution was found in recognizing A Surprising Connection that I made.
I have been a licensed counselor for 12 years. I recently gained National Certification status. I have worked with all ages and truly enjoy discovering the value inherent in each individual. I have a passion for working with the military and their families, single parents, the elderly and any one experiencing the need to make a change. In this format (via telephone, Skype or email), I only work with people 18 and older.
I am a holistic counselor and coach. I have an existential, person-centered and reality-based perspective and approach to creating a solid, therapeutic relationship with my clients. I believe the following:
· Life has the potential for meaning under all its varying conditions;
· Human beings have the will to reach out for meaning and feel frustration, isolation or emptiness if this will is not applied;
· Human beings have the freedom, within certain limitations, to fulfill the unique meaning of their lives.
· Human beings “can find meaning by responding to the situation of the moment, by accepting the simple tasks of his life.” Joseph B. Fabry
· “The pursuit of Meaning is more than man’s inalienable right—it is the very essence of his humanness.” Joseph B. Fabry
· “Each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible.” Viktor Frankl
· "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." Viktor Frankl
· "Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life; everyone must carry out a concrete assignment that demands fulfillment. Therein he cannot be replaced, nor can his life be repeated, thus, everyone's task is unique as his specific opportunity to implement it." Viktor Frankl
Foremost, I believe that the fullness of life begins when we can truthfully connect with another human being, not as perfect beings, but as beings trying to actualize our potential to live powerfully meaningful lives.
I believe these connections must be positive connections, ones that provide us with unconditional positive regard for our unique selves. Though human beings share a lot of things in common, each of us is as unique as our fingerprint. Unconditional Positive Regard means the person recognizes value and accepts that you are in the process of becoming and will make mistakes or get off the path you have chosen, but that is okay. You are okay. It means that the person Appreciates you and your value in the here and now.
Appreciation is different than tolerance, which is merely putting up with you. Appreciation is the recognition that we are all interconnected on some level and possess a value. This value is best understood as it is purposed in the conditions and circumstances in which it evolved. Furthermore, in appreciating you, I learn from you, and may choose to adopt certain skills, views, beliefs etc.… into my life because such may enhance my life. Appreciation opens us up to learning new things. A Surprising Connection is available to us the minute we engage with people from the perspective of appreciation. And in so doing. we open ourselves up to adding value to our own lives and the lives of others.
I believe living a full life requires learning to more easily adapt to changes required of us by external conditions and internal conditions. Change requires that we make major and minor adjustments to our vision, mission and course. If we don’t change, it stands to reason we are on the path to stagnation, decay and death.
People grow best when they have someone to connect with that does not resist them, but who embraces them for who they are at this moment in time. We are all full of potential value. Value is actualized and realized in connection to others and an in concert with an honest connection with our selves. Every positive connection we make within ourselves or with others makes us exponentially stronger and powerful.
I believe we are all connected on an energetic level. The time is now to actualize the power inherent in this awareness of such A Surprising Connection. To take advantage of the power of this connection click on the button below or call me at 502-208-1566.
Nature is a Great Teacher
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson
